From now and until the end of October 2016 is the best time to secure your river cruise in Europe. The most popular cruise by far is the 15 day Amsterdam to Budapest which also operates in reverse. The three companies almost exclusively used by Australians are Scenic, APT and Avalon. Scenic and APT are both highly regarded and if you are looking for top quality these are the ones you should consider. Scenic also operates a lower cost alternative: Evergreen, as does APT with Travelmarvel – the main difference with both being the included tours and extra touches you will find on Scenic and APT but not on Evergreen and Travelmarvel. Avalon is more closely ranked with Evergreen and Travelmarvel.
The lead-in cabins on all these ships are the ones on the bottom cabin deck with picture windows that you have to stand to see out of. You are close to the waterline. The two decks above are balcony cabins in various configurations. Which one should you choose? I have had clients perfectly happy in the cheapest cabins. On the other hand, sometimes you might want to relax in your cabin and watch the world go by. The balcony cabins with full floor to ceiling windows are ideal for this.
There are some very good fly free (in economy class) deals on all cabin categories for all of 2017, in fact the best they ever have been. The offers extend to flying Business Class for $1995. All three companies have deals but I am highlighting APT as one you should consider. Please do contact me for more detailed information. The “from” prices are based on low season (typically November but also March and April). The high season pricing is a bit more expensive (e.g. $7995 for Amsterdam to Budapest) but you will get better weather.
